An original watercolor and pencil drawing by Paul Dominique Phillipoteaux, signed and dated Cairo 1899 lower left image. The son of Henri Felix, both men are listed as French historical painters of the nineteenth century. This large finely detailed watercolor painting was created to illustrate an article in the Century Magazine of 1900 by the same title. A very serene and thoughtful work.
