“Philadelphia” Published by Sherwood, Neely & Jones, London March 1823. A charming derivative copy of William Birch’s engraving of the Great Elm tree at Shackamaxon. It was under this tree that William Penn was believed to have forged a treaty with the Delaware Indians. A lovely but apocryphal story. 8 x 10 inches plate size 14 1/4 x 16 inches framed size. Hand colored engraving, archivally matted and framed. Excellent condition.
