Warr A decorative map full of detail concerning places, topographical detail, relative size of towns and cities, canals, rivers, etc. Henry Tanner (1786-1858) was one of the most important and highly regarded 19th century American map and atlas publishers working in Philadelphia. His atlases are recognized as being the finest printed in the United States at the time. The maps were engraved with care and painted in outline color with full color washes. This map was included in The Universal Atlas of 1833. It shows a finely detailed inset of Charleston with an index specifying streets, city hall, court house, hospital , exchange, etc. 15 ½ x 12 ½ inches sheet size Engraving with full original hand coloring. Very good condition, a clean and sharp impression.
