[Untitled floral bouquet] 

Beautiful hand colored copperplate engraving by Louis Tessier (1719-81), one of the renowned French Royal Court painters. This engraving was taken from Tessier’s flower portraits which were translated into print and tapestry designs celebrating the breadth and beauty of the French royal gardens. This image was issued as an illustrated plate to Livre de Corbeilles et Vases de Fleurs, originally published in Paris c. 1770. Our example is a later strike of the work probably published early 19^th century.
