“View of Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island”

This lovely small wood engraving of the university as it appeared in the mid 1830’s was published in the charmingly entitled “American Magazine of Useful Knowledge.” It depicts 4 buildings. The one at the center of the image is Edifice Hall, the first to be built on the campus and later renamed University Hall.

6 ¾ x 10 ½ inches, sheet.
Hand colored wood engraving.
Very good condition.
