Walter Ronald Locke (1883 - ?) was an American etcher known for his landscapes, particularly those of Florida. He exhibited at the Library of Congress and the Society of American etchers and produced prints such as this one, in collaboration with Associated American Artists. According to the information they included on the label (preserved on the verso of the matting) “his works are often the results of months of study, and of an almost impossible amount of long hard work, so that every least bit of foliage may be accurate and detailed. They have a simplicity which reflects his own meticulous care in their production.” His etchings are have been purchased by Yale University, Wesleyan University, Iowa State College, Berea College, William Rockhill Nelson Gallery of Art, Binghamton Museum of Fine Arts, Cornell University, Skidmore College, Syracuse University, Brooklyn College and Robert Hull Fleming Museum and museums devoted to the art of the southern united states.
