William Faden, "A Chart of Delaware Bay and River, containing a full & exact description of th Shores, Creeks, Harbours, Soundings, Shoals, Sands and Bearings of the most considerable Land Marks from the Capes to Philadelphia Taken from the Original Chart Published at Philadelphia by Joshua Fisher"

An extremely important colonial map of the Delaware River published by William Faden of London, on March 12th, 1776.  Faden, along with his collegue Thomas Jeffreys, compiled the most comprehensive cartographic record of the American colonies at the time of the American Revolutionary War.    Most of the maps contained in Faden's North American Atlas were created for the use of the British Military and were the most up-to-date information available.  The information included in this map of the Delaware River was gathered by Joshua Fisher. He lived in Lewes, Delaware where he witnessed many shipping accidents in the river and determined that many were due to "... want of knowledge." 

This chart has very good navigational information.  It describes creeks empyting into the river, shoals, depths, "flats", etc. all things that made navigation so difficult. Oriented with west to the top (the river flowing right to left) Fisher / Faden also includes a tide table, scale of British and nautical miles, and an inset of pilot names along with their vessels names listed as references to the accuracy of Fisher's map.
