Another wonderfully colorful and detailed map published by R.L. Barnes, this one of Delaware County. It includes Radnor, New Town, Haverford, Marple, Upper Darby, Darby, Tinicum, Ridley, Nether Providence, Upper Providence, Edgmont, Middleton, Aston, Upper Chicester, Lower Chicester, Bethel, Concord, Thornbury, Birmingham, all of which are depicted in color with portions of contiguous counties shown in white. The large scale of 1 inch to 1 mile, permitted the identification of Post Offices, Friends Meeting Houses, Methodists Meeting Houses, Presbyterian Churches, Catholic Churches, Cotton Factories, Saw Mills, Paper Mills, Schools, Cemeteries, etc. where they were located in 1862. Tomkins Island, Marcus Hook Bar, Chester Island Bar, Chester Island, Menas Island, Little Tinicum Island, Maiden Island, Printz Island and Hog Island are shown in the Delware River.
25 x 28 inches, overall. Hand colored lithograph. Excellent condition. The black glass framing treatment enhances the period feel of the lithograph.
