Charming small format map of Santo Domingo the capital of the Dominican Republic. This map was included in Alain Manesson Mallet's (1630-1706) five volume atlas entitled Description de L'Univers, which contained maps of the known world at the end of the seventeenth century. Santo Domingo was settled in 1502 and has a rich colonial history with many beautiful buildings, among the first constructed in the New World by Spanish colonists.
8 1/4" x 5 1/4" copperplate engraving on laid paper. Excellent condition.
