“December, November, October” This plate was included in a celestial atlas published in Hartford, Connecticut in 1835 entitled, Atlas, Designed to Illustrate The Geography of the Heavens. The atlas consisted of eight maps detailing the "visible heavens" from January through December by the leading American astronomer and popularist, Elijah H. Burritt. Burritt published several star atlases for the general public between 1833 and 1856. Much of the nomenclature given by him regarding the southern stars still remains today. Copper plate engraving with original hand color. 14 ¼” x 13 ¼’ image size, 22’ x 21” framed size. Matted and framed to museum specifications.
