(Front View of Praefecturae Parck Campenhautanae...)

This folio, birds-eye-view engraving is from Brabantia Illustrata (Chateaux and Country houses of Gentlemen of Brabant and the most remarkable Monasteries in the area of Brusselles in alphabetical order so as not to prejudice anyone). The work was published in Amsterdam in 1705 by D. van de Daelen, A. van Damme, & E. Boucquet.

These lovely hand colored engravings not only show the wonderous chateaux of the area, but their carefully planted surrounding formal gardens. Brabant is a province in the south of the Netherlands in the heart of the historic Low Countries, where during the 14-and 15th centuries the area experienced a golden age. These engravings demonstrate the flat topography and wonderful growing environment of the area.

Copperplate engraving, professionally hand colored.
