“Washington Crossing the Delaware. Evening Previous to the Battle of Trenton Decr. 25th 1776.

Charming image of Washington on a snowy hillock watching his men as they cross the icy Delaware River from New Jersey into Pennsylvania. This popular image was created by the Connecticut based family printing firm of E.B (Edmund Burke) and E.C. (Elijah Chapman) Kellogg. Kellogg prints are often mistaken for Currier and Ives works as they were colleagues/competitors in the printmaking business in the mid-late 19th century. The Kellogg firm like Currier & Ives published hand colored decorative lithographic prints, which sold inexpensively to the new American middle class, producing prints that chronicled the history, customs, and lives of 19th century Americans.

Lithograph with full original hand color.
10 x 14 inches sheet size.
Very good condition. Small repaired negligible tear outside image left margin.
