This early original 19th century map of New Jersey was created by Anthony Finley for his New General Atlas published in Philadelphia in 1827. Early maps of New Jersey are hard to find and the Finley map is a favorite. The map describes existing counties in contrasting hand color, it details major towns, mountains, island and waterways, as well as roads and canals (including "proposed"). A terrific and affordable map of the "Garden State."
Engraving with full original hand color and untrimmed margins. 13 3/4 x 11 inches sheet. Very good condition some slight dampstaining.
