century Britain was a mighty power proud of her accomplishments and anxious to display her wealth and culture. William Pyne produced a number of works for British and foreign audiences celebrating these wonders. His chosen medium of hand colored aquatinting allowed the artists and engravers to capture an amazing amount of fascinating detail concerning architecture, clothing, and activities of everyday life.
