“Le Jeu Interrompu etudi de Golf, d’Hermes”

This highly stylized, carefully colored antique print was included as an illustration in a series entitled ‘Gazette du Bon Ton’; a periodical devoted to the depiction of Parisian high fashion designs of the first quarter of the nineteenth century.  The clothing, background elements, the postures, and the attitudes of the subjects all reflect a taste for the sophisticated style and taste of the Art Deco jazz age. The artists commissioned to create these prints were some of the most popular of the day. The names of the designers of each of the fabulous items of clothing are recorded below the capitalized French titles. In this case, an elegantly dressed golfer is dressed by the famous house of Hermes.

9 ¾ x 7 1/2 inches, sheet.
Colored lithograph with some pochoir additions.
Very good condition with light over all patina.
