This exceptional folio stipple engraving is from Pierre-Antoine Poiteau’s work Pomologie Francais. The illustrations were drawn by Poiteau and P. J. F. Turpin for Langlois et Leclercq. Pomologie Francais is one of the finest and rarest works on fruit. Each engraving was printed in color and finished by hand using the a la poupee process. The work is the culmination of French stipple-engraved color printing and built upon the talent of the renowned Pierre J. Redoute and other predecessors.
