It is one of the most comprehensive colorplate studies of parrots ever made and was primarily intended as a guide for those who were interested in raising parrots. According to the preface, the publisher spared “neither pains nor expense to make the work as attractive as possible.” The existence of this Indonesian bird is threatened.
