John C. Fremont (1813-1890)
Fremont wa an American military officer, an explorer and a politician. He led four expeditions into the American west and served as military governor of California during the Mexican-American War. He was one of the first two U.S. senators representing California. Fremont became wealthy during the California Gold Rush.
