Plate 3. Part of Ward 24.
A beautifully colored and decorative 1918 map oriented with north to the right of the page that centers on the Zoo grounds and the residential areas extending between Parrish and Brandywine Streets and 39th to 32nd Streets. The Zoo grounds and buildings are shown in detail as they extend on the east to Fairmount Park and to the Schuylkill River beyond. The Pennsylvania Railroad Company's extensive tracks are shown winding around the Zoological Gardens on 3 sides creating a pattern that has a pleasingly abstract, almost contemporary appeal.
