Delightful hand colored wood engraved detailed depictions of distinctive doorways around Newport as recorded in 1884. Most are high style from the colonial period with fanlights and pilasters but a country barn is also included. 

This page with its illustration of enormous Newport residences was included in a section of the periodical fittingly entitled "Where Cottages are Palaces."
