"Source de l'Aveyron" (pres de Chamonix)
During the 18th and 19th centuries the river Aveyron emerged from beneath the Bosson glacier. The glacier extended from the summit of the Mt Blanc all the way into the Chamonix valley. The river appeared beneath the glacier under a grotto like vault attracting early writers, explorers, painters, Grand Tour visitors and later photographers. Archivally framed in curly maple frame.
