This most famous glacier in all of the Alps terrified the peasants of the Chamonix commune as it slowly inched forward threatening homes and grazing meadows. It is no wonder the glacier with its ice pinnacles and pyramids, was captured by artists and scientists alike so many times. A "must see" phenomenon on the Grand Tour trip. Archivally framed in curly maple frame.
